Keeping Athletes Healthy and Prepared in Montenegro
Darija and Mirko are Special Olympics Youth Leaders who are leading a Youth Innovation Project in order to better inform Special Olympics athletes on how to maintain their physical health during this time and to prepare them for the possible second wave of the pandemic. Darija and Mirko are motivated by the mass feelings of uncertainty due to the ongoing spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, Darija and Mirko will create an application targeted at Special Olympics athletes from Unified Sports Clubs to conduct training sessions and to distribute tips relating to food, water, sleep, and mental health in preparation to a second wave of the virus. Although their outreach will be especially targeted at athletes, these sessions and tips will be made available to all community members as the two Youth Leaders promote the power of inclusion and the Unified Generation.
Darija and Mirko hope that their application can have as large of an impact as possible during a time full of restraints and restrictions.. Darija and Mirko are doing their part to not only prevent some of the harmful effects from the pandemic, but to proactively promote the positive effects of meaningful inclusive connection regardless of the circumstances.
